Germany, Italy, and Japan sign the Tripartite Pact. The Pact was established to keep the United States out of the war. This would Open up a two face war. -
Roosevelt Runs!
FDR runs for his third term, never before heard of. FDR vs Wendal Willkie. There was very little difference between the canidates. FDR was elected partly because of his leadership that could be seen beneficial during war. -
breaking the Agreement
Hitler broke the agreement he had made with with Stalin, not to go to war and invade the Soviet Union. Roosevelt began sending supplies to help out the Soviet Union. -
Lend Lease Act
A new plan Roosevelt created because Great Britain had no more cash to spend in the arsenal of democracy so he created this to try and help. Under this plan, the president would lend arms and other supplies to “any country whose defense was vital to the United States.” The Lend Lease act was passed in March of 1941. -
Signing of the Atlantic Charter
FDR and winston Chrurchhill met on the U.S.S. Agusta to discuss the war. There they sign the Atlantc Charter which was a declaration of war aims and goals including collective security, disarment, self determination, economic cooperation, and freedom of the seas. Supporting the Allied powers. -
Shoot On Sight
German Submmarine fired upon U.S destroyer Greer in the Atlantic. Roosevelt ordered navy commanders to respond by shooting on sight. -
Pearl Harbor
Japan had droped bombs on United States land. the next day Roosevelt declared war on Japan. Three days after Japan, Germany, and Italy declared war on the United States
