    Baekelite is made; from a resin from coal tar by Leo Baekeland
  • 1920

    PVC or polyvinyl chloride was invented by Waldo Semon and Eugen Baumann in efforts to reduce the use of natural rubber.

    Polyethylene is the most common plastic used today and is known as the "everything plastic". It was invented by Erhard Holzkamp.

    Nylon was created and used as a fashion accessory. It was invented by Wallace Carothers

    Dacron was made. It was made by DuPoint. This plastic was used in clothing, bottles, film, tape, canoes, and as finish on high-quality wood.
