Charles Beck
Charlse Beck was hired as the first teahcer of physical education in the U.S in 1825. He developed a program of German gymnastics, he learned from Freidrich Jahn, at the Round Hill School in Northhampton, Massachusetts. -
Mr. Lewis
Dio Lewis BioIn the spring of 1861, Doi Lewis founded the Boston Normal Institute for Physical Education. Dio Lewis's influence had much to do with the establishment of the present system of physical culture in most of the institutions of learning in the United States. -
William G Anderson
Upset with his lack of training to be professional physical eduacator, William G. Anderson invited a group of people, that were interested in physical eduacation, to meet at Adelphi Academy where they would discuss, debate and learn form one another. -
TItle IX
The Passing of Title IX created the framework within which girls and women might finally have equal access to sports, fitness, and physical education opportunities. It sparked a big explosion in women sports from youth to the elite level.
