Marji is finally starting to realize what the revolution really is. Marji begins to feel anger towards the revolution and towards God, therefore resulting in her feeling as if her role is to someday become a leader of the revolution through demonstrating. starting with this event. (pg 38)

Marji had been taught by teachers that the shah was chesen by god. After the war started her dad told her it wasnt. That the shah is just someone with power. (pg 44,

Hitting close to home.
Marji is starting to notice how real this war is. and how close to home it is really hitting. When shes starting to realize that people that are close to her are getting hurt as well. (pg 93) This also happens when her neigbors house is blown up.

Marji loses all faith in god. She doesnt want him in her life anymore, shes not a profit, and hes not helping. (70)

after waiting eleven days marji is finally picked up by her childhood friend. Though its not long before she starts to dislike her, because while people are dyeing where shes from, these people are worried about fashion and unneeded iteams. (pg 156)

A lot of things change in Marjis trust, when her mothers best friend leaves her at a bording house with nuns, instead of taking her in like promised. (pg 155)

Marjis is an adult
Marji is moved to the nuns buidling, where she finally recieves some independence and responcibility. She has hope for the future and sees a good life ahead of herself. (pg 159+)

Marji gets a call from her parents, though she never believed they would see her again. (pg 151 ) They want her to come home, she has hope once again. (pg243)
