  • (5 BYA) Sun and Solar System Ignite

(5 BYA) Sun and Solar System Ignite
The center of our solar system, the sun, ignites, Solar system takes shape.
  • Earth Began to form

    Earth Began to form
Eath begins its formation. At this point the suface was molten and there was no oxygen in the air.
  • Chemicals begin to form

    Chemicals begin to form
Earth now consists of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, and sulfur.
  • Simple organisms begin to form

    Simple organisms begin to form
Cells arise as molecular systems become enveloped by membranes. Heredity is handled by RNA which also act as a catalyst for protien synthesis. Those organisms are what became the first cells on Earth.
  • Bacteria forms

    Bacteria forms
Single prokaryoktic bacteria cells begin to form on the Earths surface. These cells were most likely anerobic heteratrophic prokaryotes.
  • Oxygen levels

    Oxygen levels
    Oxygen levels reach todays levels
  • Eukaryotes form

    Eukaryotes form
More complex forms of live start to take shape as eukaryotic cells start to form on Earth. These more effecient cells now have nuclei and are able to collaberate with on another and specialize.
  • Ozone (O3) formed

    Ozone (O3) formed
protected organisms from harmful UV rays so they could exist on land
  • 1600-1700

    1600-1700
Francisco Redis experiment- Redi produced the idea of biogenesis with his exteriment that showed flies are not produced by meat by having an open and closed container of meat.
Microscopes are invented-Scientists begin to use microscopes that allow them to view small organisms. They believe that they are formed because of spontaneous generation and that this generation is due to a vital force.
  • 1800-1900

    1800-1900
Louis Pasture creates an experiment in favor of biogenesis by boiling broth with an open ended curved flask. With the flask open the broth stayed clear but when he broke the flask microorganisms were able to get into the broth and caused it to be cloudy proving the theory of biogenisis and putting the idea of spontaneous generation away for good.
  • 1900-present

    1900-present
Orapins hypothesis- Orapin believed that with the gases that were on Earth at high temperatures they would form organic compounds and eventually formed protiens
Urey and Miller- created an experiment to prove Oparins theory. They came to the conclusion that with the chemicals in the air early forms for live could have been possible in areas such as undersea hot springs
Sidney Fox- Fox researched what the first cells structures looked like Cech- found a type of RNA similar to enzymes
  • 1900-present

    1900-present
Cech found that a type of RNA is similar to some enzymes
Lynn- proposed that prokayotic cells may have developed a mutually benifical relationship
Radioactive dating- atomic number of an element is the number of protons in the nucleus
  • 1700-1800

    1700-1800
Spallanzani creates an experiment that includes boiled broth to show that there is no spontanious generation and also proving that there is no "vital force"
Urey and Miller- created an experiment to prove Oparins theory. They came to the conclusion that with the chemicals in the air early forms for live could have been possible in areas such as undersea hot springs
Sidney Fox- Fox researched what the first cells structures were like. She discovered mircopheres and discoverd that not all need en
