Pearl Harbour Attack

  • The USS Arizona sinks

    At 8:10 am, the USS Arizona starts being bombed and, a few minutes later, it sinks because of an explosion caused by an 1800-pound bomb. 1,000 men die.

  • The Attack Begins

    At 7:53 am the Japanese fleet receive the order to attack: "Tora, Tora, Tora"

  • The Defeat of the US Air Fleet

    By 8:00 pm the Japanese fleet has already destroyed nearly all the US fighter planes impeding, as a consequence, the harbour having air support

  • The USS Oklahoma rolls onto its side

    As a result of the continuous attacks to this ship, it finally rolls onto its side and sinks because of the damage caused by the Japanese torpedoes. 400 men die

  • Second Wave

    A second wave of 167 aircraft arrives at Pearl Harbour to attack Ford Island and Kanoehe Naval Air Stations and Hickam Field. However, this wave doesn't cause as much harm as the first one

  • The Attack Ends

    At 9:50pm, the second wave leaves Pearl Harbour and the attack finish. The result of the attack was the destroy of 20 ships and 300 airplanes and the murder of 2,403 sailors

  • Roosevelt meets the US Congress

    One day after the attack the US president, Franklin D. Roosevelt, meets the US congress

  • US declares War against Japan

    Roosevelt's declaration of war on Japan gets approved by the US congress and, as a result, the United States enters the World War II

  • Roosevelt's speech

    Roosevelt asks the congress to declare war against Japan and participate, as a consequence, in the World War II
