The Jappaneese fleet made this sailent run from Japan (left Nov. 26th) to the US. The us was selling Japan scrap metal, and stopped suddenly. Some think this was the reason behind the attack.

A strong Pacific storm seperated all the ships in the commute to Oahu. The storm lasted 2 days. They were able to regroup using radios.

From Dec 4th to Dec 6th, the fleet was heading South to get in position to make the attack. By this time, they were ready to launch their attack the next day in the early morning.

The Jappaneese Bombers began to take flight to Pearl Harbor. The US was unprepared and not ready for the attack at all,

The first bombs fell at 7:48 am, and thus began a day that would "forever live in infamy".

The attack lasted over 2 hours and 20 minutes. 300 aircraft were damaged, 4 battleships sank, 3 battleships damaged, and 2,402 people were killed along with 1,247 wounded.

Following the attacks on Pearl Harbor, FDR adressed the nation with the famous quote "a day that will forever live in infamy."

After FDR's "Day in infamy" speech, the US formally declared war on Japan for the attacks on Pearl Harbor.

The US Recruits many soldiers, taking its army total to 12 million, while Japan's is 4.3 million. Japan's intent was to cripple the US, and it did just the opposite.
