Patience Wright was born in 1725 in Bordentown, New Jersey. Her original name was Patience Lovell

She married Joseph Wright. They had five children.

Her husband died. This is around the time when she started making sculptures as a profession.

She sailed to England, where she made wax sculptures of royalty. She also provided information to the colonists about how the British were going to attack. She was openly supportive of them.

During the Revolutionary War, she opened her home up to American prisoners of war, and comminucated frequently with Benajmin Franklin in Paris.
