plessy vs. ferguson
Hower Plessy refused to sit in the "balcks secsion" in the bus which by him doing that it was consider breaking a law in Lousiana state. Plessy argued that it was with in his right to sit were he wanted tobut the judge ruled other wise. brown vs. board of education
Black student were denied the right to attent a "white" school because of there race adn they decided to go to court. The court ruled that students can't be denied education basd on there race. With this court case Plessy vs Ferguson was over ruled and prohibited segregation. Murder of Emmett Till
Emmett Till was a boy who was kidnapped, abused and was tourture and killed. Two white men were accussed of being the ones responsable for what happen to Emmett. After a 67 minute court case the 2 white men were found not guilted and sent free even though many witness went against them. Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott
Rosa Parks was sitting in the front row of the colored section in the bus. When the bus became full the bus driver told Rosa Parks and 3 other blacks to move to the back in order for whites to sit where they were sitting. While the other people went to the back Rosa Parks refused to move and was arrested. Founding of southern christian leadership conference(SCLC) and Martin Luther King
This conference was created when a group of people got together to replicate the boyott that happen in Alabama. This conference was locaed in Georgia and participated and many protest and were fighting for blacks rights. Little Rock Nine and Central High School
After the court case ruling that said that balcks can't be denied education based on race nine students decide to go to a white school. The students were meett with a mob and the police telling them that they couldn't enter the school. The president told the governer to take out the police or he would send the federal army. Greensboro Sit-in
In this event 4 African Americans sat in a white counter in a dinning room. They didn't move and were asking to be searved politly while whites agravetade them. The next day more blacks went and the same thing happened the next until the diner had no option but to serve them. Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committe (SNCC) and freedom summer
This campaign organized a freedom right campaign which was a mock of a real election. The reason why they did that was to show the desire that the blacks had to vote. They were teaaching them the fundamentales of voting. When the whites got word of it they got angry that the blacks were trying so hard to get rights. Freedom Ride/ Freedom Riders
A group of blacks got together and board a bus in where they were in the white section. They encountared many obstagles like getting beat up because they trried using tthe whites restroom and more. March on Washigton
In this march more than 200,000 people mett together to march for there rights. In this march Martin Luther King said his famous I Have a Dream speech. Malcome X was an activist who fought for black rights . He was known for using force. He believe that if someone is agravaating you you shouldn't just take it you should do something about it.
