Out of my Mind Timeline

  • Melody's Childhood

Melody had some highs and lows in her childhood. Some examples are:
-When she got her new dog, Butterscotch
-The time she threw a tantrum because of a toy commercial saying that the toy has been causing kids to have lead poisoning
  • Melody's New Sister

When Melody was eight, her mom was pregnant. Melody already knew it, but her mom didn't know that she knew. So, she told her and she prayed that this one was going to be fine and healthy. And she was, Penny was the perfect baby. She walked in time and she was able to sleep through the night.
  • Melody's School and Inclusion classes

Melody has been at Spaulding Street Elementary for five years. Melody goes to a class for "special needs" because she can't talk or walk, she has to be in a wheelchair. She's in a class where people have disabillities, but still go to school. She started taking inclusion classes. One of them, the teacher, Mr, Dimming, teaches social studies. And Melody made a new friend, Rose.
  • Melody's New Computer

One day, when Melody went to her inclusion classes, she saw her friend Rose show off her new computer. So, Melody asked her aide, Catherine, if she can have a computer too. So, after all her inclusion classes, they went back into her homeroom, H-5, to look online for some communication devices. They found a really cool, inexpensive Medi-Talker. Surprisingly, it came super early, and Melody was so excited.
  • Whiz-Kids Competition

Every year, local schools join a competition called the Whiz-Kids competition. The winner of that competition gets to go to washington D.C. to win nationally. Last year, Spaulding Street Elementary was in seconf place overall. Melody practices for days, weeks, for this competition. She was the only one in the whole entire class to get all of the questions right, which means she made it on the team! At the competition, Spaulding won by one point!
  • Flights Cancelled and Hurt Loved Ones

When Melody got to the airport, she was so excited. But as her parents talked to the lady who was in charge of checking people in, they said that all the flights are cancelled because of weather conditions. The other students made it, but they left Melody behind. The day after that, Melody wanted to go to school, but her mom was all stressed because she had to go to work. Melody's dad and Penny were waiting at the door, but the door didn't close. So, the mom ran over Penny.
