    Rotary phones were used to dial numbers to call people. They were popular 1919 until mid 1950s. They became obsolete when bell came out with the first push dial phone on November 18th, 1963. They became obsolete because they ended being too inconvienent when push dial phones came out.

    Record stores were used to sell music records for record players. They were the most popular in the 1950s to the 1980s. They became obsolete in the late 80s to early 90s. This is because most of the record stores were replaced by the internet and itunes.
  • Fax machines

    Fax machines were used to send data in digital form over phone lines. Fax machines were popular in the 1980s and 1990s. Fax machines become obsolete when email and world wide web was created because those made it a lot easier to send and receive data. Fax machines stopped being used in the late 1990s.

    Cds were small, thin discs used to store music. CDs were very popular from 1985 until 2002. They became obsolete in 2002 when the iPod was invented because it made it much easier to stream music on the go.

    maps were used to navigate you on trips, when your in the car, etc. They were actually invented 6000bc and have been popular for a long time after that. But when digital maps came out, physical copies were less used.

    Landlines were phones that were connected to wires, therefore you could only keep them in your home. The Bell telephone company created landlines and started using them in July 9th, 1877. Landlines became obsolete in June of 2008. Land lines became obsolete because people started inventing portable phones that do a lot more then just call.

    Public pay phones was a machine that if you put coins in, you could call someone for a certain amount of time. They were popular in the early 1980s and mid 90s. they became obsolete in july of 2009. This is due to the creation of iPhones. Even homeless people have cell phones nowadays.

    Phone books were used to store phone numbers. Phone books have been around since 1878. They became obsolete on October 14,2010. They became obsolete because the company Verizon requested for New York to stop mass-producing phone books.

    Movie rental stores used to be very popular. They has hundreds and sometimes even thousands of movies that people could rent. Although it doesn't give an exact date, blockbuster shut down almost all their stores, leaving only 50 remaining around the whole world. They became obsolete because streaming services like Netflix, Prime video, etc have made it much easier to watch and rent movies.

    VCRs were used to record, store, and play back television programs. VCRs were first made in 1972. They were discontinued in july of 2016
