He went to watch over his dad's coal mine. He was there untill the war started. -
His Start in the War
He was a supportor of the confederate cause. He made a group called the "Raccoon Roughs" to fight. His company was incorrparated in the 6th Alabama Regiment with Gordon as its captain. -
Placement
He was put in command of the regiment and promoted to clonel. -

He was wounded in the head by a Union bullet at the Battle of Malvern Hill. -

He helped in covering a road in the Battle of Antietam called "Bloody Lane". -
