    Doolittle"s Raid
    This was the first US air radee on Japan, lead by Lieutenant James Doolittle. Only nine US Army Air Force men died as 16 bombs were dropped. In the end it was aUs victory (Allied Victory).
  • Coral Sea

    Coral Sea
    Starting on May 4th 1942 this was an aircraft and naval batttle between the US and Austalia against Japan. It was back and fowath sinking of ships. By June 7th, just a few days later, Japan wont this battle by sinking more ships, but later will still suffer from this victory.

    Starting on June 4th, 1942, the most important naval battle of the pacific capaign bgan. Japan tried to bring the US into a trap but the US turned it around and sunk aircrafts and heavy cruisers. After this battle Japan was inable to recover from their loses, making this the turning point of the war.
  • Guadalcanal

    Guadalcanal
    This was the first offensive attack on Japan. The battle was around the island of Guadalcanal. Allied troops moved in and overwhelmed Japanese troops capturing Tulagi and Florida, as well as an airfrield. But Japan didnt want to give it up so easily so for months tried to get it back. In december Japan gave up trying to capture it back. The battle was considered over on February 9, 1943.

    The battle was On the Saipan island as the war was being moved island to island, or by island hopping. 27,000+ japanese soldiers were killed and 2,949 Us soldiers were killed. But by the end of the battle on July 9, 1944,the US won again and this was an important win because now war could be braught to the Japanese homeland.
  • Iwo Jima

    This was the first attack on the Japanese homeland. There was a lot of naval and air support. 6,821 US troops were killed, and three air feilds were captured. That was not the only thing captured at this battle. Joe Rosethal captured the famous picture of the troops raising the american flag on camera that day. On March 26 1945 it was declared another US victory.
  • Okinawa

    Okinawa
    On April first the battle for Okinawa began. Allied forces wanted to capture it and use it as an air base to later invade Japan further. It was the largest amphibious assault. THe battle of Okinawa was nicknamed "Typhoon or Steel" because of the ferocity of fighting, kamikaze attacks and allied naval ships all fighting for the island. In the end 12,513 US troops died, and 95,000 Japanese troops died and the US and Allied forces took another victory on 21 of July.
