  • Founder

    Nintendo's founder Fusajiro Yamauchi started the company by selling and manufacturing Japanese playing cards, Hanafuda. The company was started in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto, Japan.
  • Arcade Games

    They launched their first arcade game, Donkey Kong. This was one of many games they developed. Some of them are the well know video game Super Smash Bros.
  • First US Video game console

    Nintendo released the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) as it was known in the US. The system was called Family Computer System in Japan. It was a cartridge game system.
  • Hand Held video game system

    The black and white Gameboy came out. This was the first of many that they released. The other handhelds where the Gameboy color, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, Nintendo DSI, and Nintendo 3DS.
  • Super Nintendo

    Upgrade from NES still uses cartridges and was known as Super Famicom in Japan.

    Upgrade from Super Nintendo, Still uses cartridges.
  • Game Cube

    First disk system was released. It still had all of the popular games on disks.
  • Wii and Wii U

    The Wii was the first motion sensitive gaming system. The Wii U was an upgrade and release in 2012. Both still used disks.
  • Switch

    This is the first system that allows you to use motion sensors, online gaming and can be used as a handheld. This is their most recent system.
