    The beginning of Radio Entertainment
    KDKA, a broadcast station in Pittsburg started up. It was the first broadcast station to use the radio for entertainment. This brought up to 40% of U.S. households to eventually have a radio.
  • Charles Lindbergh

    Charles Lindbergh
    "Charles Lindbergh establishes a record of 33 hours 29 minutes in his 3,614-mile nonstop solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean." He becomes a great pilot to show off to other Americans that will become flyers like him. One of these many pilots include Amelia Earhart.

    The Election of 1928
    Herbert Hoover comes into office as Americas President of 1928. It was a Presidencial race between Hoover, a mining engineer from Iowa and Alfred E. Smith, a politician who had served 4 terms as a govenor of New York. Hoover wins with his declaration, "We in America are nearer to the final triumph over poverty than ever before."

  • The rise to Nazi Germany

    The rise to Nazi Germany
    Germany was destroyed by WWI and was still repairing its nation. They were already in a Depression when the Depression hit. Therefore they were in double of the Depression. A five-million German mark was worth less than a penny. The National Socialist German Workers Party (Nazis) led by Hitler. He said to the common people, that in power he would fix their economy, make jobs, and made all of the anger towards the Jewish. Hitler was nominated Chancellor and turns Germany into a Dictatorship.

    World War II was the start of a fight between the Allies and the Axis. The Allies being France, England, America, Canada and Russia. The Axis being The Reich(Germany), Japan, and Italy. The war started, after years of the Holocaust, when Germany took complete control of the Czech Republic. France and Germany fought back but France was taken over quickly along with Poland. Later the Japanese assaulted America and America joined the war. Overall it made the world grow in sciences and technology.

    Chinese Civil War
    China had been split among itself by nationalists and communists. For a while the nationalists were i charge with its back up from the U.S. However, its leader Chiang Kai-Shek, his government was corrupt and many Chinese did not want him to lead. The communist leader Mao Zedong got peasant support because communism made it "better" for them. The nationalists lost and by the end of 1945 majority of China was communist and would be an American opposition in North Korea.

    The Iron Curtain
    After WWII, the Soviets saw the immense power the Americans were holding and wanted to create their own. They also wanted to spread communism across the world and in turn took over Eastern Europe. The "iron curtain" came to stand for the division of Europe at this time. They had reached as far as Eastern Germany down past Czechoslavakia through Austria and past Yugoslavia. American President Harry Truman sent an passive agreement to Moscow that the Russians go no further. It passed.
  • Korean War

    Korean War
    Korea was one the different countries in Europe that were split in two. North Korea was communist and backed up by China, while South Korea was Republic and backed up by America. North Korea wanted all of Korea to be communist so it attacked and almost took over all of South Korea. The United States came in and started taking South Korea back. It eventually all went back to the border and has since then been the break. An armistanse was called and no shots were since. America took it as a loss.
