    Black Hawk War
    The war was between the Sauk warrior Black Hawk and the United States. The cause was because the United States drove settlers into the territory over the next 15 years, and the Black Hawk grew angry. In 1804 the Black Hawk signed a treaty not realizing that later on he would have to give up his home village. So, when he refused to leave he started preparing for war.

    Texas Revolution
    The Revolution ending on April 21, 1836. It began when the colonists in the Mexan province of Texas rebelled against the Mexan government. The Revolution stated with the Battle of Gonzales in October 1835 and ended with the Battle of San Jacinto in April 21, 1836.

    The war was initiated by the United States and resulted in Mexico's defeat and the loss of approximately half of its national territory in the north. This event marked the first armed conflict fought on foreign soil. During this time James K. Polk was our president and he believed in "maifest destiney."

    The treaty set the US and British North American border to the 49th parallel with the exception of Vancouver Island, which was retained in its entirety by the British. The US received the territory south of the 49th parallel. The Oregon Terrioty stretched from the Pacific coast to the Rocky Mountains.

    He was an American inventor, actor, and entrepeneur. He made huge improvements to the sewing machine. He also was the founder of the Singer Sewing Machine Company. The company was born in New York City. In 1860 his company became the biggest sewing machine manufacturer worldwide.

    It was a war fought from 1861-1865. It was between the Union states and the Confederate states. During this war more than 620,000 died and millions were injured.
  • Treaty of Fort Laramie

    Treaty of Fort Laramie
    This was an agreement between the United States and the Oglala, Miniconjou, and the Brule bands of Lakota people. The treaty was brought forth to bring peace between the whites and the Sioux who agreed to settle withi the Black Hills reservation. It guaranteed ownership to the Lakota of the Black Hills.
  • Alexander Graham Bell

    Alexander Graham Bell
    Ceated the telephone in 1876. The phone he created was the house phone. In 1877 he created the Bell Telephone Company. Continueing his inventing he created the photophone and the graphophone.
