    Harriet Tubman
    Born: She was born between 1820-1825 in Dorchester County, Maryland Childhood Fact: Harriet Tubman was born into slavery. She started working when she was 6 years old. Her masters often beat her. Adult Fact: She escaped from slavery in 1849. Afterwards, she made it her mission to free her family. She freed thousands of slaves. Died: March 10, 1913 in Auburn, New York at the age of 93. Secret Fact: Harriet's real name is Araminta (aka Moses). She had visions and was a Union Spy.

    Born in New Orleans, Louisiana Chilhood Fact: He was born into a poor family and relied on others for food Adult Fact: Louis Armstrong and the Hot FIve recorded 60 albums from 1925-1928 Died: June 6, 1971 In Queens, New York Known because: Louis Armstrong was a great jazz musician, a comedian and an actor. Secret: Louis Armstrong was sent to the Colored Waif’s Home for Boys in 1912. That is where he received his first musical instruction and fell in love with music.

Adult Fact: She suffered hardships, including being arrested when she refused give up her seat on the bus. She was the first person to cause a boycott during the Civil Rights movement. Died: October 24, 2005 in Detroit , Michigan Secret: When she was little, her grandfather guarded the house from the Klu Klux Klan with a shotgun.

His first game with an all white team was on April 15, 1947. Died: October 24, 1972 in Stamford, Connecticut Secret Fact: Jackie Robinson was the youngest of five children, and the most successful. Now we celebrate Jackie Robinson Day on April 15th.
