    The Libson earthquake in Portugal produced a 7m high tsunami from it's magnitude 9 shaking. It resulted in 20,000 fatal casualties. No photographs exist of the event due to the time period it occurred in.
  • The Eruption of Krakatoa

    The Eruption of Krakatoa
    The eruption of Krakatoa read a 6 on the Volcanic Expolsivity Index. A tsunami soon followed due to the ferocity of the eruption. The tsunami killed 36,000 and destroyed approximately 165 villages.
  • The Aleutian Earthquake

    The Aleutian Earthquake
    This quake occurred in Alaska and held a 8.1 magnitude. Fatalities were estimated to only be 160. The resulting tsunami did not occur in Alaska, but hit Hawaii instead
  • Great Chilean Earthquake

    Great Chilean Earthquake
    The quake itself was a massive 9.5 magnitude. On the contrary, the tsunami it formed resulted in only 61 deaths. This is because the tsunami travelled an approximate 15 hours to Hawaii.

    A tsunami formed from the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that hit Hokkaido. It resulted in 120 killed. Multiple landslides occurred from the shaking.

    The earthquake rated a 7.1 magnitude. The death toll measured around 2,100 killed. The earthquake itself caused a submarine landslide that altered the seafloor.
