Montezuma was born in 1466. He was born at Tenochtitlan. His parents names were Axayacatl and Xochicueyetl. Montezuma the second´s real name was something like Motecuzoma.

On January 1, 1480, Montezuma the second became a leader in the Triple Alliance military force. He trained for many years in the war category. While he was training, he was showing some different strategies.

On January 1st, 1481, Montezuma the second's father passed away. When he died, his brother took over the throne. His brother's name was Tizoc.

On April 5, 1499, one of Montezuma´s daughters died. Her name was Maria Xipaguacin Moctezuma. She died in the Mountain village of Toleriu.

In 1502 Montezuma the second´s uncle died and he became the leader of the Aztec empire. He was 36 years old when he became leader. Montezuma the second was the 9th emperor of the Aztecs.

In 1509, Montezuma's daughter was born. Her original name was Tecuichpoch Ixcaxochitzin. But her name changed later to Isabel Montezuma.

On January 1, 1517, there was news that strangers landed on the coast. Montezuma thought that those people were related in some way to the gods. So then, the Spaniards were allowed into the Empire without having to fight the Aztec army.

On December 15, 1517, Montezuma the second learns of the foreigners. On this day, he received the first report of the Europeans landing by his empire. They came there because they were on the expedition of Juan de Grijalva.

In 1519, Hernan Cortes arrived to mexico. Mexico was where Montezuma was. When this happened, Montezuma the second saw that some of his own people were turning against him.

On June 29, 1520, Montezuma the second died. He died during a battle against the Spanish. People do not know exactly how he died though. Some say that he was killed by a rock that got thrown at him by one of his own people and others say that he died because he got hurt by Cortes.
