The Revolutionary War starts and the British and the colonies go to war.

William Hays, Molly's husband becomes a soldier in the Revolutionary War in the continental army.

She is in charge of bringing refreshments to the soldiers in battle. At the battle of Monmouth her husband is shot in the arm and she rushes to his side. She takes over his artillery spot, and uses her great aim to take down a bunch of British soldiers. This gave the other soldiers renewed stregth. This little push forced the British to retreat.

After the war is over Molly returns to Carlisle.

Molly is awarded $40 a year for life becuse of her courage in the war.
