  • French & Indian War

    French & Indian War
    The French and Indian War lasted 7 years. It was the start of the colonists altercations with Great Britain. It caused many colonies to question Great Britain and their laws.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    A law from great Britain making the colonists be taxed for their sugar. This was one of the first events that made the colonist want to rebel from Great Britain.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    It was Parliament's first serious attempt to assert governmental authority over the colonies.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    It raise revenue to pay for judges and governors salaries. The colonist began boycotting Britains imports and this lead to the Boston Massacre.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    Britain sent their troops to the colonies. It started by a colonist throwing a snowball and gun fire was shot. It resulted in many injuries and 5 people dead. This lead more people to join forces against Britain.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    Colonist aboarded a ship and poured al the tea into the sea. This was their way of boycotting again the taxes on tea.
  • Quarting Act

    Quarting Act
    Colonists were made to house troops from Britain. This was one of the laws from the Intolerable Act which were made to keep colonists under British rule.
  • Forming of first Continental Congress

    Forming of first Continental Congress
    This meeting was held to discuss the disagreements with Britains taxes and intolerable acts. They decided to boycott Britians goods and if Britain does not change their policies they will meet again.
  • Commitee of Correspondents

    Commitee of Correspondents
    Theses people were chosen to going to each of the colonies. They were to have a representative come with them to meet in Virginia. These representatives would discuss their opinions of Britain.
  • Signing of Declaration of Independance

    Signing of Declaration of Independance
    The men from the continental congress come together to sign this document freeing them from Britains control. It was written by Thomas Jefferson.
