    Syruri intruduces herself, and tells how and where she was raised in a poor fishing village. She explains about Mr. Tanaka, who she wants to adopt her and her older sister. But they are examined by a 'doctor' and 'sold'. They are put in seperate geisha homes, where she is examined yet again.

    Chiyo is to become an aprentice geigha, taken in as Mamehen's little sister. She resumes her training, and is adopted by the owner of the geisha house. During Chiyo (Now Sayuri)'s debute, Hotsumomo spreads rumors about her to make her unpopular. But they spread a rumor Hostumomo is metally unstable, and its greatly upsets her that Sayuri is adopted. Mameh also says that Sayuri must have her 'misuage' early, so she is still popular.

    Chiyo (Sayuri) beguins her training as a guisha, along with the other girl in the giasha house, Pumkin. That is, until Chiyo finds out that her sister is nearby, and they make plans to escape. The escape fails, and she stops her training, much to the sadisfaction of Hotsumomo, the senior geisha where she lives.

    Chiyo now works as a maid, because of the failsed escape. Her sister got away however. Hotsumomo also makes her get in more trouble, by increasing her debt by writing in ink on a kimono, ruining it. Later, the geigha (who owned the kimono) told her to come to her house, to talk about something.

    Sayrui, has her mizuage, and it is given to a man called 'Dr. Crab'. Afterwards, she becomes friends with the head of a major company, who requests to be her 'dana' years later. But she refused, because the Chairman, the companies head's friend, is the man she is really in love with. She makes friends with him, only to fid that he did remember her after so many years. He became her 'dana' and moved away to America, opening her own tea house.
