    Very similar to the stamp, moveable type was invented by Bi Sheng. The original molds for letters and punctuation were molded from porcelain. Each are placed block style with ink and the paper is then rolled across the blocks.

    The Printing Press was invented by Johannes Gutenberg. This method was used to transfer ink to paper or textile with pressure. The individual plates with each letter was put in place and inked. The paper was placed over the plates then pressed with the platen.

    Created by Claude Chappe to transfer information across long distances faster than post riders. The apparatus was a as set of wooden cross arms that sat atop towers roughly 20 miles from each other. The arms were capable of being moved with a pulley system to articulate different letters between the towers.
