  • Chapter 1-3 pages 2 thru 30

    In these hcapters, the reader meets the chanracters. Minny is a 165 pound negro woman who works as help for white women. Aibileen is a help for Miss Leefolt. They both talk to eachother about there day and are really good friends.
  • Chapter 4-6 pages 31 thru 91

    In these chapters, the reader learns about the discrimination against negros. Minny has to go to the bathroom and has to go in the guest bathroom. She then gets in trouble for going to the bathroom inside. She gets a bathroom made outside for her. Aibeleen has to take care of Mae Mobley a lot and the mom doesn't even change her diaper.
  • Chapter 7- 10 pages 92 thru 142

    Minny works for Miss Celia and she hasn't told her husband that Minny works there yet. Then Minny goes to church and talks to Reverend Minister. Minny says that she is sweating in December because of a heat wave. Minny goes to work and Miss Celia is curled up in pajamas and doesn't want to cook. She then tells Minny to go home for the day which is very strange to her. Then Miss Celia yells at Minny.
  • Chapter 11-23 pages 143 thru 295

    In these chapters Minny is waiting for Miss Celia to come home. Johnny will be home soon so Miss Celia tells her to run. Minny runs home luckily without being caught. Then, Miss Hilly calls her a liar and a thief the next day. Then a man comes to their house and they have to lock all of the doors. Minny takes a knife from the kitchen. Then Minny chases him but falls down. He comes back to hurt her but Miss Celia breaks his jaw.
  • Chapter 24- 34 pages 296 thru 425

    Aibileen says that ther is record heat and Miss Leefolt wants her to do all the work in her hot house. Then Aibileen gets a call from Minny and she says that her husband is beating her. Aibileen tries talking to Minny but then listens as Minny gets beat. Then we find out that Minny is pregnant and her husband doesn't want to hurt the baby.
  • Chapter 35- end pages 426 thru 451

    In this chapter Miss Leefolt's silver needs to be cleaned by Aibileen. When she is cleaning the silver she thinks about her kids and college forthem. She takes the silver but then is forced to run. She doesn't want to leave Mae Mobley but doesn't want to get caught.
