Mary and her family lived in England at the time of the war. But prior to the war she travelled a lot with her family. After the war they continued tavelling.

After her father died, she returned to France and unhappily attend several schools.

She attended lectures in Geology and Achaeology at London University and at London Museums

She married Louis Leakey in '36 and had 3 sons. Mary moved to Kenya with Louis and worked in east Africa for majority od her career.

Studdied and recorded a Pleistoncene Tanzania rock painting, that for the basis of one of her books.

After she was widowed she spent majority of her time travelling to give lectures, raise funds and receive many honors.

She retired to Nairobi to be close to her family. There she sontinued to work on her manuscripts.
