Martin Luther is born to Hans and Margerethe Luther in Lutherstadt Eisleben.

Receives B.A. (Bachelor of Arts) degree at Erfrut.

Luther earns his M.A. (Masters of Arts) at Erfrut. After this he begins his study of law. On July 2nd,during a thunderstorm, Luther takes a vow to become a monk. He starts his practice at the Order of Augustinian Hermits.

Luther becomes a doctor of theology after being moved transferred to the Augustinian house at Wittenberg the year before.

Starting in 1513, Luther begins his lectures about "The Psalms". As the years went on he started lecturing about "Romans". In 1515, along with doing lectures about "Romans", Luther was also appointed distract Victor over ten different monasteries. During 1516, Luther moves on to a new topic of lecturing; "Galatians".

Luther starts another new lecture topic about "Hebrews".

On October 31,1517, Luther posts his "95 Theses" about indulgences in the Church.

During this year, Luther was said to have understood "the righteousness of God" as "passive righteousness with which God justifies us by faith". In July, Luther had a confrontation with Professor John Eck (pictured) at Leipzig. During this debate Luther denies the supreme authority that was granted to popes and council members.

Papal Bull wrote "Exsurge Domine". This book was written in response to the conflicting views of Martin Luther. It stated that Luther had 60 days to recant or be excommunicated. In response Luther burned Canon Law and Papal Bull.

Luther write three major seminal documents: "To the Christian Nobility", "On the Babylonian Captivity of the Church" and "The Freedom of a Christian".

Luther is excommunicated and brought before the Diet of Worms. His words at the meeting questioned authority and changed history.

Luther got kidnapped on his way back from the Diet of the Worms. He spent 10 days translating the New Testament from Greek to Roman.

Luther returns back to Lutherstadt Wittenberg. Once there Luther set off any chance of social and political reforms. One example would be Luther’s push for education for all. He encourages musicians and poets to use their talents to support the church.
