On November 7, 1867 famous Marie Curie entered the world. Though she wasn't named Marie Curie and she wasn't famous. She was just an ordinary baby. But she was born Marya Sklodowska. Nobody would have guessed that a lot of years later she would become so famous. -

In this year Marya was on her way to succes she won a gold medal for best student at age 15 when she was in High School. -

In 1886 Marya became a governess to get enough money to go to Sorbonne University. But before that she was a tutor though she didn't make much money.

On July 26,1895 Marie Sklodowska became Marie Curie. When she fell in love and married her partner Pierre Curie. The man she was doing experiments with. -
The Best Moment of A Person's Life
On September 1897 Marie Curie gave birth to her very first child a healthy baby girl whom she named Irene. -
She Calls It Radium
On May 1902 Marie Curie and her husband Pierre discovered radium after putting Irene to bed. But before discovering radium Marie and Pierre had to do tests. They found a poweful radiation and called it radioactivity. It took the Curie's three years to prove they found the new element. But radium wasn't the only element they found they also discovered polonium. Which Marie name after her home country Poland. -
Becoming Famous
A lot of good things came out of discovering elements. A lot of good things came to the Curie's after their discovery. Including a doctor of science degree for Marie. Marie and Pierre also won a Nobel Prize in Physics plus 70,000 francs. Also Pierre was made professor in Physics at the Sorbonne.But the best gift for the Curie's was another baby girl whom they named Eve. -
Not Everything Is The Same Now.
The Curie's went on a vacation in 1904 for a few days. And a few days after they came back while Marie was shopping Pierre was hit by a wagon and he died. After Pierre died Marie was made professor in Physics at the Sorbonne which was the place Pierre had held. Marie won another Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1911. In 1921 Marie visited the White House with her daughters and receive a gram of radium from the president.(The day and month is not exact) -
Good bye Marie curie
In 1934 Marie Curie died from cancer which was leukemia in 1934. She got leukemia from the radium.

Continuing The Work
Irene married and they continued the work of Marie and Pierre Curie. They even won a Nobel Prize in 1935.
