American Revolutionary War
The American Revolution was the war that we fought against the british in order to gain our own independence. The US was and underdog in this war and the french aided us in our conflict. This time period brought about the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the goverment we know today. The fighting stopped in 1783. Here is short video clip. Revolution. -
American Civil War
The American Civil war was a war that almost split our country. It was fought between the northern states (Union) and the southern states (Confederacy). The country was split between topics regarding land, taxes, politics, and of course slavery. President Abraham lincoln abolished slavery with the Emancipation Proclamation. Abraham Lincoln was assasinated shortly afterwards at Fords Theatre by John Wilkes Booth. The north eventually won the war with the south surrenduring. -
World War I
World war I was the first adavanced major war fought among the world as a whole. It all started with the Assasination of Duke, and then countires began to take sides. Eventually the US was drug into conflict and we won the war with the signging of the Treaty of Versailles. Here is a video clip I made. WWI -
World War II
World War II was fueled by German Leader Adolf Hitler. He was power hungry and was envading neighboring countries. The US stayed nuetral as long as possible until Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The US entered the war, and helped stop the Germans and Japanese. This war was fought by land and sea. Vietnam War
The vietnam war was fought in south east Asia until 1973. It was a war being fought between countries in the area and the US became involved after one of our war ships was attacked by North Vietnamese torpedo boats. Following this attack, Congress passed the Southeast Asia Resolution which allowed President Lyndon Johnson to conduct military operations in the region without a declaration of war. We never won the war but withdrew, making it one of most hated wars and controversial. -
Iraq War
The Iraq War is the most recent war the US has been in. It was brought about as a fight against terrorism. We were attacked on 9/11 and this put the events into motion. Here is a video. Iraq War.
