They are on the roof talking to each other
Leila and Mahtab are on the roof together and they talk to each other about what they want to do when they are older ,Mahtab wants to be a teacher and Leila wants to be a doctor like her auntie. They both know that they will never be able to do this while the Taliban are in their country. -
Leila leaves to go to Iran
Mahtab is devastated. She desperately misses Leila her best friend and wants to see her again.They have been best friends forever and Mahatb wishes she could come back but she knows that they had to leave because they weren't safe. -
Her Grandfather is murdered by the Taliban
Her grandfather is killed by the Tallban .Mahtab's father just escapes death and her family decides they are no longer safe in their home country and they need to leave and go to Pakistan and then later on make the journey to Australia. -
They Begin Their Journey
Mahtab,her mother ,her brother,her father and her sister begin their journey to Pakistan.They are very scared and nervous but they know they either leave or they will die.They wake up very early in the morning,so early that they do not get to say goodbye to the rest of their family. -
Mahtab and Her family arrive at a small farmhouse
Mahtab and her family get to Pakistan. Here they are safer but they have to stay in a farm house and they cannot leave because it turns out there are people who are kidnappers. -
Mahtabs Father goes on ahead leaving the family in the farmhouse
Mahtab and her family miss their father terribly but they wait in the house and learn new things.Like how to play chess and to make wonderful stories -
The Family Begins the Journey
The family boards a plane to Malaysia. They are scared but are excited as well because it is their first time on a plane, as Mahtab puts it 'It was like flying a kite without string." -
