    I was born on this day. I am a winter baby. I like the winter.
  • 9/11 terrorist attacks

    On September 11, 2001 19 Islamic militants took over 4 US flights. Two of the planes hit the world trade center buildings. One of them hit the pentagon and another landed in a field in Pennsylvania. Over 3,000 people were killed. http://www.history.com/topics/9-11-attacks
  • US Patriot Act

    The United states Patriot Act was passed shortly after the terrorist attacks in New York. This act allowed the government to intercept suspected terrorists cell phones with permission from a judge. It also allows investigators and federal agents to use some of the same tactics used during national investigations such as drug trafficking. The act has helped the government prevent a few terrorist attack and is now they can use many more tactics to catch a suspect.
  • No Child Left Behind Act

    This act got government much more involved in the education system. It required all students grades 3-8 to test in math and language arts annually. Students in grades 10-12 must take standardized state tests as well. Link Text
  • Homeland Security Act

    The act consolidated 22 different agencies in hopes of preventing and responding to man-made and natural disasters. The senate reorganized the Government affairs t have jurisdiction over homeland security problems. Agencies like FEMA, TSA, and CBP all must cooperate to make the dreams of homeland security work.   • Hurricane Isabel

    Hurricane Isabel was originally forming off the coast of West Africa on September 1 and travelled across the Atlantic Ocean.
  • Roper V. Simmons

    This ruling deemed it unconstitutional to give juveniles under 18 the death sentence. Two friends conspired to kill and steal from a friend. The heinous crime was committed at the age of seventeen, but after the ruling he was 18 and put to the death penalty. Now according to the 14th and 8th amendment that is unconstitutional. Link Text
  • Hurricane Katrina

    Hurricane Katrina makes landfall and kills at least 1836 people. The hurricane strikes along the coastline of Louisiana and goes up into Alabama. Katrina becomes the most costly hurricane in U.S history. Katrina costs 108 billion dollars in damages and repairs. Link Text
  • Great American Boycott

    Mostly latinos flood the streets across the country from New York to Los Angeles. 300,000 strong go out and protest with different types of flags. They were questioning why they were considered good enough to work, but not good enough to be U.S citizens. This was a much needed and important protest in the latino community. Link Text
  • Virginia Tech Massacre

    A senior at Virginia Tech goes on a rampage of sorts. The 23 year old locks several doors in a school building and walks around the building shooting up all the classrooms before killing himself. Cho was reportedly mentally ill and this sparked a discussion on gun control in the U.S. Cho killed 32 and injured a few more. Link Text
  • Emergency Economic Stabilization Act

    In fear of a recession President Bush signs the (EESA) into law. This gives 700 billion dollars to the Secretary of Treasury to try and fix the problems. Treasury would try to buy things from small businesses, working families, and companies to try and unclog their financial sheets. These things help lead to a stable and sturdy economy. Link Text
  • Barack Obama elected as U.s President

    Barack Obama is the senator of Illinois and is now the 44th president of the U.S. Barack Obama is also the 1st African-American president. Barack Obama is of the democratic party and beat out Hillary Clinton for the democratic nomination. He was sworn in and officially became president.
  • Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Prevention Act

    This act is a result of the murders of Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. The act is to prevent hate crimes and gives federal investigators more authority to do so. Hate crimes for gender,sexuality,race, and etc. These crimes can no longer get turned away by local departments.   • My Brother's birthday

    My brother was born at 8:40 am. He was born in Holy Redeemer I think. I was very happy because I had always wished for a little brother and I finally got one. He is one of the main reasons I carry myself how I do.
  • Obama re-election

    Barack Obama is elected as president of the U.S for a second term. He beat out Mitt Romney of the republican party to do so. Democrats remained in majority in the senate. Republicans remained in majority in the house.
  • Boston Marathon Bombings

    There were 2 bombs positioned towards the end of the Boston Marathon. 3 were killed and 260 others were injured. After a hectic game of hide and seek the two suspects were found in their home in Boston. 2 immigrant brothers who acted independently away from terrorist groups. 1 died in a shootout with the cops.   • First National Basketball Camp

    I take basketball very seriously nowadays and this is one of the reasons why. It was a good first experience for me. I finished top 40 at the camp, but I realized I was not very good. I came home after that camp and worked harder than ever.
  • First Major All Star Game MVP

    Every year a media organization holds an all star game for all the best players in the region. I was lucky enough to be invited and I played well. This game put my name on the map and is probably a big reason that I play on a national level. This game boosted my regional popularity a lot.
  • First All American Camp

    I worked hard all summer to be invited to this camp. I got invited and I played well. I made the freshman all star game. It showed me that hard work pays off.
  • Abington Vs. Upper Dublin

    This is one of my least favorite days of my life. We were heavily favored in this game and thought of as district contenders. We came into the game very cocky and it cost us. I think about this moment every time I step on the court. I hate it, taught me to always be humble.
  • First Association Game

    I play for a basketball team that is sponsored by under armour. All the sponsored under armour teams play in a national league called the under armour association. I was really excited to play in the association, and I had a good game. We lost by one point though and it was a real real reality check.
  • Freshman of the Year

    After the season is over Philly.com gives out seasonal awards. One of the awards is Rookie of the Year and it is for the best freshman in the area that season. I won it last year and it helped me realize people are starting to notice the work I put in.
  • First in Game Dunk

    This was another city all star game appearance and I had just started dunking. Nobody really knew I could dunk yet and it surprised everyone in the gym. Just a really feel good moment for me because I worked so hard to be able to dunk.
  • First day of high school

    It was a really exciting day. The night before I thought back to how it felt like just yesterday I was entering 7th grade. Thought about how much I have changed, not much. I was looking forward to starting a new chapter.
