    Sharon was born on 78th and Wilbur, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was the oldest of three children; A younger brother, a younger sister, and herself.

    Sharon lived in a small neighborhood for most of her childhood. Two of her best friends at the time lived right across the road, Her grandmother lived upstairs from her house, and she would go up to visit her. Sometimes, she would make food for Sharon and her two younger siblings, Pat and CJ. These foods inclded Flip Flops, dumplings, or zuccini bread, which is still a family tradition. Her cousin, Dennis, was a crossing guard, and all the girls liked him.

    Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956The day after her birth, the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956 was signed. This caused taxes to raise on automobiles and fuel to pay for the remaining ten percent of the cost that could not be paid for by the government.

    The first world's fair since the ending of World War II occurs in Brussels, Belgium while Sharon was about 2. She didn't know it at the time, but it evoked the cold war debate between two sides, including the U.S., and the pavilions of the Soviet Union.

    The St. Lawrence Seaway is opened along the borders of Canada and the U.S. while Sharon is still potty training. This causes more water traffic between the two counrties.

    The 1960s Barbie FashionsSharon used to love to play with her toys. She had a variety of different kinds, including Barbies, Paper dolls, Chatty Kathy, and Klinkalinks. She also loved playing with her friends, and did a lot of bike riding.

    The fifty star flag is released due to Hawaii being added as a U.S. nation in 1959.

    Plane Crash
    Sharon was only about 5, but the entire U.S. figure skating team was killed in a plane crash in Brussels, Belgium. Seventy-three people are killed in the inncident.

    Alcatraz Great Escape
    The last twenty seven people in Alcatraz were removed by Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. The orginization was then shut down. Alcatraz was a nearly impossible prison to escape, in fact, only three members have ever escaped the prison, and in a very clever way. Alcatraz was an island, and the only way guards could escape it was special transportation.

    While Sharon was still trying to get over Kennedy's death, a new president was elected. President Lyndon B. Johnson won his first presidential election over Barry M. Goldwater from Arizona.

    Sharon's household owned a television, but it only had four to six channels. On Saturday nights, her dad made a big bowl of popcorn and they watched 'Gun Smoke' until it was really late together. On Saturday and Friday mornings, she watched Saturday and Friday morning cartoons, including Lost In Space, Honey West, The Man From Uncle, Popeye, Heckle and Jeckle, Mighty Mouse, and Woofy Woodpecker.

    While Sharon is still young, and doesn't need to worry about it just yet, Medicare for citizens over the age of 65 is established. Her grandmother may have signed up for this, which would help her health

    Televison started to evolve, presenting new media to the gulibal teens. The famous Ed Sullivan show featured the top bands and artists, including Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Who, which were some of Sharon's favorites. All the girls took a liking in the 'Gogo' dancers, and everyone wanted a pair of Gogo boots, their tradmark. Sharon was aggrivated when her mother wouldn't buy her a pair, an hasn't had a pair since.

    MLK Assassination
    Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee by James Earl Ray while standing on a motel balcony. Sharon was almost clueless to any segregational acts at the time, for she had never seen an African American person where she lived.

    Sharon attended school and was in the newspaper club, which had interveiwed Ms. Wisconsin. Meanwhile, segregation had resently died down, which she was clueless about, because no 'colored' people lived in her neighborhood.

    Earrth Day
    While Sharon was catching up on the latest trends, the first Earth Day was being announced. This was a day of replenishing and caring for the earth. Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin believed that we only have one earth, and that we need to take good care of our earth. He made the first earth day, which led to national legislation such as the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act.

    Cigarette Ad Ban
    While Sharon's classmates became more and more attracted to drugs, cigarette commercials were banned in the U.S. on January 2, 1971. People, especially children and teens, were heavily influenced by the media and television.

    Hippies
    Sharon's classmates and influences began to go through a 'hippie' faze throughout her tennage years. A layed back and natural lifestyle seemed great for her, so she participated as well. They wore things including patchy bell bottoms, long straight hair (which was parted in the middle), black ballet slippers, and smock tops. Teen prenancy and drugs were becoming more popular, along with cigarretes and Rock and Roll.
