William Golding was born September 19, 1911, in Saint Columb Minor, England. His mother was an active suffragette and is father wroked as a schoolmaster.

There is no specific date for when his first work, "Poems" was written but in 1934, a year before he graduated, he published it which was overlooked by critics.

One day in 1940, Golding abandoned teaching to Join the Royal Navy and fight in WWII. He spent six years on a boat where he fought battleships.

In 1954, after being rejected twenty-one times, Golding published hsi first and most known novel,, "LOrd of the flies". He recieved inspiration from his stuents when he was teaching back in 1935.

On June 19, 1993, William Glding died of a heart attack in Perranarworthal, Cornwall. After he passed away, his manuscript, "The double Judith" was published.
