    Camp Wood, St. Louis
    The Expedition of Lewis and Clark started at Camp Wood, St. Louis, on May 14, 1804. They explored the Louisiana Purchase for about 2 years, searching for the Pacific and discovering what the Purchase had to offer the U.S.
  • Death of Charles Floyd

    Death of Charles Floyd
    Only about 3 months or so into the expedition, Sergeant Charles Floyd died of what modern physicians believe was appendicitis. He was buried at Floyd's Bluff, named after him, and the rest of the Corps stayed that night at the mouth of Floyd River. His final words to Clark were,"I am going away. Please write me a letter." He was the only death during the whole expedition.

    Lewis, Clark, and the Expidition make their way through the Great Plains, and discover animals that are unknown in the Eastern United States.
  • Sacagawea- Shashone Guide

    Sacagawea- Shashone Guide
    The Discovery Corps meet Toussaint Charbonneau and his Shashone Indian wif, Sacagawea. They hire Sacagawea as their Native guide in the expedition to translate for them along the way.
  • Shipment to Washington

    Shipment to Washington
    Lewis and Clark send shipments of artifacts and specimens to PPresident Jefferson in Washington, D.C. to show their progress. They continue their journey westward.
  • Game

    Game
    Lewis and Clark find that the Louisiana territory is in abundance in hunt game. The Corps kills their first grizzly bear near a river in what is now Montana. (R.I.P. Mr. Grizzleh Baar)
  • Capsize

    Capsize
    Sacagawea's husband Toussaint Charbonneau accidently capsizes one of the expeditions canoes. Sacagawea's jumps into the water and recues some of the most important items from the boat, including medical equipment, information collected, and other important supplies.
  • Shoshone Camp

    Shoshone Camp
    The Expedition reaches the Shoshone's camp, where Sacagawea reunites with the chief, her long-lost brother, and others.
  • Journey Continues

    Journey Continues
    Lewis, Clark, and the Corps begin their journey into the Bitterroot Range of the Rocky Mountains. They will have to cover about 160 miles. They were able to acquire horses and mules from the Shoshone.
  • Fort Clatsop

    Fort Clatsop
    The Discovery Corps reaches the Pacific. Everyone on the expedition- including Sacagawea and York, Clark's slave, many years before women and african american's win rights to vote- votes on the location to build their winter quarters. It resided on the side of the river where the Clatsop Indian's lived.
  • Heading Home

    Heading Home
    After winter had resided, the Discovery Corps headed eastward to St. Louis.They presented Fort Clatsop to the Indians, as they would no longer be in need of it.
  • Return to St. Lewis

    Lewis, Clark, and the Corps of Discovery return to Camp Wood after about 2 1/2 years of exploring the Louisiana Purchase.
