The expadition had finally started. they left from st. chariles missouri. thety travled in a 55 ft. keel boat. also had 6 tons of food. their wepons included 2 swivel cannons, 15 harper fairies rifles, 24 piped tomahawks, 24 large knives, 1 panet air gun for Lewis.

they had to make repairs on their oars and tow rope.

the first indian trib they incounterd was the otoes. borth lewis and clark had both made speeches that the land that they live on is no longer france's. the cheifes had responded in a friendly way to lewis and clark to the gifts they handed out.

a sargent floyed had died and became the first death that the expadition had experianced.

with the wepons that they have brought with them that they could not get close enough to get qa good shot at them. they are very good with their sense of sight and smell.

there was many more of them than there is the discovry. about ten time as many. after a little while the sioux desided to let them pass.

they travled in bull boats made of buffalo hides. the explorationn had spent many days with them. the corp. of discovry had found out that the tribe had never seen a black man before.

it was freezing by now. every morning when they wake up they would find ice at the edges of the river. so Lewis and Clark thought about a winter camp.

fort mandain is finally finish. it was finished just in time for the corp. to take shelter for the winter. while the waited for spring they hired a frenched traper named sharbono as an inturbener. this traper had sacajewea as a wife.

she had just gave birth to a baby boy. sacajawea was a shushone and they had exalent horses. Lewis and Clark both knew that they needed horses to get across the mountains.

none of the men of the corp of discovory is having any second thoughts at this point of the adventar.

after they broke camp to continue their jonery. they had found many heards of buffalo on their travels alonge the river. they also found elk and deer. they also have seen a grizzly baer.

they did not know about the fork in the river that they were following. they were very confused. the men thought that the northern path was the right one. but Lewis and Clark thought that the southern one was the right one.

they had a very diffecalt time getting over the moutains in the snow. clark had gone ahead with the best hunters to find game.

lewis had finally meet up with clark. clark had found the nez perce indians.

they had finally reached the pacific ocean.

today they had seen their first sign of civlization, some cows grazing on the side of the river.
