    DiCaprio was born in Hollywood, California, the only child of Irmelin -Indenbirken, single, a secretary born in Germany, and George DiCaprio, an underground comic artist and producer / distributor of comic books. Her father has half Italian (Naples) and half German (Bavaria) ancestry, her maternal grandfather, Wilhelm Indenbirken, was German, while her maternal grandmother, Helene Indenbirken, was a German citizen born in Russia as Yelena Smirnova.
