Before she did gymnastics she did ballet and dances class. The sports were not holding her attention. So her parents bribe her to go to gymnastics class. They bribe her by giving her a sugar cookies. She says "My earliest memory was watching gymnastics on live TV, and wanting to be like the 'big girls' did and I started a gymnastics class at five years old, but it became serious at seven."

When Laurie was 5 she asked her mom if she could join gymnastics and ever since she was doing as a career.

This is kinda of a fun fact though but she got her nickname Laurie because there was a lot of people that had the name Lauren at her gymnastics class. She had a coach named Maggie Haney for nearly ten years. When Laurie was nine her coach was starting looking into getting her promising young gymnast into USA Gymnastics' national development camps. Laurie could go if she had a enough score in the Talent Opportunity program. It measure basic gymnast skills and physical aptitude.

Laurie was on the Final Five gymnastics team for the Rio Olympics. Her teammates are Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Madison Kocian, and Gabby Douglas.

In the Olympics Trails she scored a 14.9 on the uneven bars.

Also on the August 7th, she got a 15.366 on the balance beam. She scored high enough to go to the qualifying to the balance beam event finals.

Again, Laurie compete her vault on August 7th. She got a score of 15.200 on the Vault.

After the Olympics, Laurie went on this TV called Dancing with the Stars (DTWS). Her partner is Val Chmerkovskiy. They won the TV show. They were on the TV in 2016. They are the 23 season Champs

Laurie hasn't graduated high school yet. Laurie was the youngest on her Final Five team. She was 16 when the Olympics was on. She also been on a TV show. She is the youngest of her 3 siblings.
