    The United States Declaration of Independence is adopted on July 4, 1776.The Declaration explained why the Thirteen Colonies at war with the Great Britain regarded themselves as thirteen independent states, no longer under British rule. With the Declaration, these new states took a collective first step toward forming the United States of America

    Under the Manifest Destiny influence, Americans keep wanting to grow bigger and extend themslelves. They buy new land ( France sold a huge land ata very low price) and if a country doesn't want to cooperate, they don't hesitate to take it by force ( America took California and other land to Mexico, by winning the war they engaged). We call this the Westward extention because they came from the East to the West.

    The Constitution

    The Constitution was written in 1787. From May to September 1787 a group of men known as the Framers met. The Framers talked about what should be in the Constitution. The United States was a brand new country. The United States had a government that did not work very well. The Framers met to find a new way of running the country. This meeting is called The Convention. Some of the Framers are famous to us today. They include James Madison, Ben Franklin, and George Washington.

    The Bill of Rights

    The Bill of Rights is the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution.
    James Madison wrote 12 amendments. He presented them to the First Congress in 1789. The states approved ten of the amendments.These were passed on December 15, 1791. They became known as the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution was finally approved.
    The Bill of Rights protects freedoms like the freedom of religion, speech, assembly, the press, and the right to a fair trial.

    The Manifest Destiny

    As the United States expanded in the 1800s, many Americans were inspired by an idea known as Manifest Destiny. They believed that the United States had a duty to stretch westward to the Pacific Ocean and even beyond.The phrase “Manifest Destiny” was introduced by journalist John L. O’Sullivan in an 1845 newspaper article.

    The Industrial Revolution was a time when the manufacturing of goods moved from small shops and homes to large factories. This shift brought about changes in culture as people moved from rural areas to big cities in order to work. It also introduced new technologies, new types of transportation, and a different way of life for many.

The southern states didn't want to be part of the United States any more and decided to make their own country.
