The invasion of North Korea on South Korea came as a surprise to the US. This event led the US to send troops to Korea to stop resistance against North Korea. Later, Great Britain got involved and sent military members over to help the US in stopping further invasions.

Mid- October: General MacArthur met President Truman to insist that the UN offensive was going to try end the war with Korea.

Mid-1951: Once the battle was in stalemate, both the North and the South agreed to hold a conference discussing the war and the Communist prisoners held in camps on an island just off the coast of South Korea. These conferences went on for 2 years. All agreed that all should be returned to their country of origin.

The battlefields were calm, and all prisoners of the war were returned to their homes.
