All the capitalist powers in the UN where sending troops and supplies to South Korea in order to defend the capitalist side. However, USSr and China were helping out the communist side and over numbered them.

This day marked the start of the Korean war. North Korea made a surprise attack on South Korea. Truman was really worried and began to send more supplies to South Korea. Later, South Korea asked the UN to help out and they did.

China was now involved with the North Korean side, and managed to push South Korea and the UN form the northern side. Later, the chinese moved into South Korea and captured the capital of Seoul.

The UN forces and South Korea signed a cease-fire agreement. North and South Korea remained seperated ever since, ruled under two different governments with different ideas and goals.

After the Geneva Conference Vietnam also got divided into two, across the 17 degree line. The North side was governed by Ho (communism), and the South side had a anti-communist government under the leadership of Ngo Dinh Diem.

After the war, North Korea got a hold of nuclear weapons, but were still economically unstable. On the other hand, South Korea was concentrating on developing is industry and expanding foreign trade. However, knowing that North Korea had access to nuclear weapons the US still keeps troops in South Korea in case they get attacked.

After the Vietnamese nationaists and communists got together to fight against the French and defeat them they got seperated nationalists and communists.

China an the Soviet Union (communists) were helping out Ho Chi Minh out with the war by sending supplies. This weakened the US and Southern Vietnam. Because of this the US forces bombed millions of acresof land and possible hideouts.

By this year, more than over 185,000 soldeirs were sent to Vietnam to fight. Also, they bombed many places that could potentially be enemy hideouts, for example forests and farmland. The U.S was the only other country that was involved with helping the capitalist side.

On this date the war finally broke out. Vietnam was now once again united without any division. This occurred because the U.S began Vietnamization, which was to draw U.S soldiers out of Vietnam, because people in the homefront began to protest. Northern Vietnam was able to conqour Southern Vietnam making it the end of the war, and also making all of Vietnam communist.

After the war was over and the communists side won they began to put "reeducation camps" for traning in Communist thought. This caused many people to flee Vietnam and go to the US or Canada. Nowadays, Vietnam still have a communist government. However, they still welcome foreign investment, and the US normalized relations with them in 1995.
