Joan (Jeanne) of Arc was born in a small town, Donremy, in France. Her parents were Isabella and Jaques. She led a happy and normal childhood. She played with her friends, went to church, and did household chores.

Joan starts to hear voices from God and messages from St. Michael, Catherine, and Margaret. At first, the voices just told her to go to church and be a good girl. Then, God started telling her to go to war.

Joan traveled to Vaucouleurs, prompted from the voices. She asked the Dauphin to join the war. She was laughed away. Joan prayed and was determined to go to war to help her country.

Joan was granted an audience with the dauphin. Joan was starting at war! She aided the troops during the siege at Orleans. She also encouraged the troops to pray and receive communion during the war.

Joan got to lead her own force and troops. Joan and her troops went to relieve the French forces at the siege of Orleans. Joan had become very popular and was nicknamed “The Maid”

Joan got inspired and because she had become so powerful, she led an attack. Even though she was wounded from that attack Joan lead another battle at Les Tourelles.

When Charles was crowned king, it was very important to Joan because she was there and they had becomes friends since she joined the war.

Joan got captured by John Luxembourg. She was held captive in a dungeon for a while before she had her trial. The English knew if they killed her, it would cause an outrage because she was so valuable.

Joan tried to explain her innocence but nobody was ready to say she wasn’t guilty. Joan kept praying but was burned to death at a stake.

Joan was declared innocent. Pope Benedict XV declared Joan of Arc Saint! Ever since she has become an icon for Catholics. She had faith in God and inspires others too as well.
