Jojo's Journey By skterry Apr 4, 1992 Andrexia (Jojo) McBride is born. Dec 1, 1998 Jojo is diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. May 27, 2010 Jojo graduates Elba High School Apr 10, 2011 While attending college at UAB, she becomes ill. Apr 20, 2011 Jojo is checked into the hospital. She is later diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome. Jan 12, 2012 After being hospitalized for nine months, and paralyzed for seven of those months, Jojo is allowed to go home. Mar 11, 2012 Jojo is told that she her kidney is now failing due to complications of Guillain-Barré Syndrome. Jan 16, 2013 Jojo beings her first semester at Troy University. May 17, 2015 Her kidney function falls to 21%, prompting her physicans to put her on the kidney transplant list. She is also placed on the list for a new pancreas. Aug 30, 2016 Physicans tell Jojo to come to UAB. She has a possible donor match. Aug 31, 2016 Jojo undergos her dual transplant surgery lasting six and a half hours. Oct 4, 2016 She is released from the hospital with full function of a new kidney and pancreas. She is now diabetes-free.
