Every couple of days John and his team returned to their stakes to measure the distance in which they moved. It turns out that the glaciers move very quickly.

    Inventing to Study
John Tyndall studied a lot about gases and vapors having the ability to transmit and absorb radiant heat. As we can guess, both gases and vapors are pretty hard to discover which are best for radiant heat so to make it easier, John invented the first Ratio Spectrophotometer. From this invention he discovered that water and carbon dioxide were the best to absorb heat radiation which are key for the earth keeping its surface temperature. https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/features/Tyndall
