She was born in 1412 on a small farm in Domremy, France. The farm was on the eastern frontier of the kingdom. Her parents' names are Jacques and Isabelle.

All throughout her childhood she worked on the farm with her parents. She learned to sew and spin thread. She also helped around the house and with the livestock.

Around the age of thirteen, she began to hear a voice from an angel. The angel told her how to behave. After hearing the voice for the 3rd time, she realized it was Saint Michael.

At this time the angels still continued to speak to her. They told her to go to Robert de Baudicourt in the fortress of Vancouleurs. They also told her they would send people with her.

Joan talked to Robert de Baudricourt and their conversations were never good. He never agreed with Joan, so he decided to send her to Chinon.

The journey took eleven days. When she arrived, she spoke with the King, Charles VII. He decided to let Joan be the leader in the Hundred Year War.

A Burgundian crossbowman shot a bow in Joan's leg and she fell. This was her first wound in the war and not long after, a man also was shot in the leg. She had to leave the war and the soldiers were left without a leader.

After she healed, she was ready to get back to war. She led them to Compiegne, and was later captured. Then the guards took her to prison.

Joan was in a trial. During this time the questioned her for everything. The judge wanted to know her secrets.

She died on May 30th, 1431 in Rouen, Franc. They requested that she put on a long robe and hood of the condemned. After she put on her costume, she walked down to the Old Market.
