Jonathan was Saul's son. He would have been the heir to the throne, if not for David. He became David's best friend. He was very loyal to David but not so to his father. He died in the same battle with the philistines as his father Saul.

Israel wanted a king, and God chose Saul by the casting the lots. Saul hid in the baggage but was found. So Saul was annointed by Samuel the prohpet.

Jonathan and his armour-bearer attacked the philistine garrison and killed 20 men by themselves. Then the philistines began killing themselves and Israel attacked and won a victory. Saul made vow saying anyone who eats will die and Jonathan ate but was spared.

David was the son of Jesse. He was born in Bethlehem. He was a shepard boy for his father as a child. He was described as ruddy.

Saul was impatient and when Samual did not come right to offer the offering before battle, He did not himself. Samuel was very angery and told him the kingdom was departed from him. Saul also disobeyed by not killing all of the Amalekites and thier animals. Samuel was told by God to go to Jesse and anoint one of his sons as king. All the older sons passed by and finally Samuel asked if Jesse had any other sons. David came and was anointed

The Israelites were at war with the philistines and David's brother were fighting in Saul's army. David was sent by his father to bring them food. He heard Goliath challenge the Israelies and volunteered to fight. He slung a stone and killed Goliath, he then cut off his head. Israel won the battle.

Jonathan and David become great friends. When David has to flee from the palace Jonathan brings him news of Saul. Jonathan says David will be king over him.

After being forced the flee from Saul, David hid in the cave at Adullam. There 400 outcast men gathered to him like an army. These men made up his band. David also wrote a psalm there.

Saul was searching for David in the wilderness to kill him. Saul went into a cave to relieve himself and it happened to be the same cave where David and his men were all hiding. David cut off a Saul's part of Saul's clothing, then after Saul left David showed it to him. Saul said David was a better man than himself and left off searching for him for a while.

David and his men protect Nabal's flocks. Nabal refuses to pay them for this service. David plans to kill Nabal, but Abigial interfers and gives David and his men the pay and extra. Nabal dies of a heart attack and David marries Abigail.

Saul was desparate becuase God would not answer him anymore, and the philistines were attacking them agian. So he went to a witch and ordered her to raise up Samaul from the dead. The spirit she raised up told Saul he would die in battle with the philistines and he did.

David took this important and very fortified city. The Jebusites inhabited it since Joshua failed to drive them out. They said it was so strong, if they were lame and blind David could not enter it. David said the first man up the water shaft, the weakness of the city, would be his commander. Joab was the first up. Then David made this his capital city

David was asked by the tribes to become the king after defeating Ish-bosheth. Many, many warriors and his valiant men all attended his massive coronition. During his reign he made few faults, but was a good king. David wrote a lot of psalms now and at the end of his reign, he made plans for the temple.

David was sorry for the loss of his best friend Jonathan in the battle with the phiistines. So David asked if there was any of Jonathan's kin still alive. Only Mephibosheth was found and he was lame. David gave him all the land belonging to the house of Saul. David also let him eat from the king's table and gave him many servants.

David saw Bathsheba when she was bathing commited adultery with and her. Then he had killed her husband in battle so he could marry her. He was rebuked by Nathan the prophet for this and a terrible plague came to Israel.

David is old and Adonijah tries to make hiself king, so David quickly makes Solomon king. Joab dies because he followed Adonijah. Solomon establishes a strong kingdom.

Solomon is sleeping and God comes to him in a dream and tells him that he can have anything he asks. Solomon is very humble and asks for wisdom to rule the people. God says he will give him wisdom and wealth also because of what he asked.

Solomon biult the temple with cut stones and cedar and overlaid it with gold. It was very expensive. Hiram, King of Tyre sent workers and cedar. Solomon made the people of Israelite work. It took 7 years to biuld the temple. Then Solomon biult a palace for himself. It took him 13 years to biuld that. Hiram, a skilled worker did all the bronze work.

Solomon was extremely wealthy. So after he built the temple, he constructed a very, very expensive palace for himself. It took him 13 years to complete.

The Queen of Sheba heard of all of Solomon's wealth and wisdom. So she came to see if it was true and found that it was more so than she had heard. She was amazed and returned to her own country with gifts from Solomon.

Jeroboam was king over ten tribes over Israel in the north. He was a bad king and made altars for idol worship. He riegned at the same time as Rehoboam. He reigned for 22 years.

A prophet came to Jeroboam when he was worshipping a idol and siad a new king would come destroy the idols and kill the priests. Then Jeroboam siad to kill the man and his hand shriveled up. The man healed him though and left. On the way home the prophet died because he turned aside and ate food, which was disobeying God.

Rehoboam was Solomon's son and he became the king over Judah, which was in the south. Judah was the tribes of Judah Benjimin and some of the Levites as well. He reigned 17 years.

Shishack the king of Egpyt came and took all the riches that Solomon had made in the temple and palace. This was becuase Rehoboam was a sinful king.

Jeroboam's child was sick and he sent his wife to a prophet to ask what would happen to him. The prophet was blind but knew who it was who came to him. The prophet said the child would die and it did, becuase of Jeroboam's sins.

Jehoshaphat was born to Asa and Azubah. His name means God has judged. He succeeded Asa as the king of Judah. He died at the end of his 25 year reign and turned the kingdom over to his son, Jehoram.

Elah was the son of Baasha. He reigned only a year or two. He reigned over Israel in the north. He was killed by his servant Zimri, who stole the crown.

Zimri killed Elah and stole the crown. He then killed all of Baasha's house. He only ruled 7 days before Omri attacked him and he kiled himself.

Jehoshaphat was king over Judah in the north. He was a good king. He tried to God and walked in the ways of David. God made him wealthy. He tried to get the people of Judah to turn back to God. He reigned for 25 years in Judah.

Jehoshaphat followed God. He wanted Judah to follow God as well. So he sent priests and Levites out to teach the people waht God wanted them to do. He also made judges over the people to judge in God's ways. God blessed him at this time.

Ahab wanted Naboth's vineyard and offered to buy it, but Naboth refused to sell. Jezbeel then had Naboth killed and Ahab took the vineyard. Ahab then meet Elijah in the vineyard and he siad Ahab would be punished. Ahab then repented.

Ahab has a way smaller army, but wins becuase the Syrians are drunk. Then the Syrians come agian to battle in the valley rather than the hills, becuase they think the God of Israel only governed the hills. Ahab wins agian and captures the king, but spares him. God says he should have killed the king and is angry with Ahab.

Ahab wants to fight the Syrains. He gets Jehoshaphat to help him. he asks his false prophets what to do and they give him good news. Then he asks Miciah, God's true prophet and he gives him bad news. So he puts Miciah in prison.

Jehoshaphat agreed to join Ahab to fight the Syrains. They listened to the false prophets and did not listen to God. Ahab was killed, Jehoshaphat escaped, but they lost the battle. God was not happy with Jehoshaphat.

Just as God told him through the prophet Miciah, Ahab was killed in the battle. Ahab disguised himself as a common soldier, but a random man shot a bow and killed him.

Elijah tells Elisha to leave him, but Elisha refused. Elijah then partes the Jordan and crosses, Elisha comes too. Elisha then askes for a double portion of Elijah's spirit to be upon him. Elijah agrees. Elijah then goes up to heaven in a whirlwind. Elisha parts the Jordan and Elijah's spirit is upon him.

Jehoshaphat prayed to God. God siad him would fight for him. Jehoshaphat put singers in the front of his army. When they arrived at the battle sight, the enemy had all killed themselves.

He then reigned for 8 years.He married the daughter of Ahab. He did not follow God. He was bad King and enticed Judah into whoredom. God sent disease on Jehoram because of his evil.

A widow who had been the wife of one of the sons of the prophets, came to Elisha and said she had a debt and no money. She would have to sell her sons as slaves. All she had was a pot of oil. Elisha told her to pour out the oil in other jars and sell it. She did and the oil flowed until she filled all the jars she had.

There was a famine and they made stew for the sons of the prophets. Someone put poisonous plants in the pot of stew by accident. The people started to get sick as they were eating it and realized what had happened. Elisha threw flour in the pot and the stew was healthy agian.

Athaliah is an evil queen. She reigns over Judah in the south. She kills all of the line of David except Joash. Joash is rescued and Jesus comes through him. She reigns 7 years. Then Joash is crowned king as a boy and she is executed.

Jehu was the king of Israel in the north. He killed almost all ahab's family. He killed all the worshippers of baal and stopped baal worship. He killed Ahaziah and Joram and Jezbeel. He drove chariots recklessly. He reigned for 28 years

Ahaziah came to throne when he was 22. He reinged in Judah in the south. He reigned less than one year. He was the son of Athaliah. He joined his uncle Joram, king over Israel and was killed by Jehu there.

Isaiah the prophet told Hezekiah he was going to die. Hezekiah pleaded with God and God told him through Isaiah that he would live another 15 years. Hezekiah asked for a sign and Isaiah asked him if he wanted the sundial to go back or front 10 degrees. He chose back and it did. He lived another 15 years

Mannaseh was 12 years old when he began to reign. He reigned for 55 years in Jerusalem. He rebiult the high places. He worshipped idols, such as baal and asheroth. He burned his sons and made idol altars in the temple. He was involved with witchcraft.

Manasseh did much evil and was a major idol worshipper. So God had him captued by the Assyrians. He then prayed and cried out to God and repented. God forgave him and deliver him from the Assyrians. After this Manasseh knew the Lord was God. He put away all the idols he made and worshipped God.

Amon was the son of Mannaseh. He was 22 years old when he began to reign and he reign for 2 years. He did evil and worshipped idols. His servants killed him. His son Josiah reigned in his place
