    In 1990, Jennifer Lopez won a national competition that earned her a spot as a dancer on the Fox TV series "In Living Color" as a fly girl. This was her first TV debut and people started to notice her. Working for the show presented her with the opprotunity to dance for singer/actress Janet Jackson just two years later.

    Lopez's first big break came in 1997 when she was asked to play the main character for the movie "Selena" (motion picture about the life of pop singer Selena Perez who was killed by a crazy fan in 1995). This earned Jennifer widespread praise, a Golden Globe nomination, and huge acting roles in movies such as "Anaconda, Blood and Wine, and Out of Sight. She also became the world's highest-paid actress in history, making one million dollars.

    Lopez was in a relationship with rapper Sean Combs. The two were allegedly involved in a shooting incident outside a New York night club in which three people were injured. Combs was charged with gun possession and bribery (for offering his driver, Fenderson, $50,000 to say to he did not have a gun). However, he was aquitted of his charges, but the couple still broke up.

    Ealry 2001, Jennifer's album "J.Lo" debuted at number one on pop music charts. She was also the lead role in the Wedding Planner, a romantic comedy that was extremely popular and earned the top spot at book office within a week of release, helping her make it onto the Fortune List of Wealthiest Entertainers Under the Age of 40 for having more than $255 million in 2004.
