  • Jacqueline was Born

    Jacqueline was born to Suzanne and Karl Morgenstein in Paris, France. Her parents had moved to France to escape Rumania's opressive anti-semitism. Jacqueline's childhood was fairly happy. Her father and uncle owned a beauty shop in central Paris, and she attended school.
  • Aryanization of Jewish Businesses Began

    Jacqueline was eight years old when the Nazis occupied Paris. Her parents had to give up their shop to a non-Jewsih Frenchman.
  • Jacqueline's Family Fled to Marseilles/ Gestapo Discovered Them

    Soon, the family fled to unoccupied Marseilles. The whole family had forged papers identifying them as non-Jews . Unfortunately, a French citizen reported them to Gestapo.
  • Jacqueline and Her Family were Deported to Auschwitz

    The family were sent immediately to Auschwitz. Jacqueline and Suzanne went to the women's work camp, and the food ratons were meager. Suzanne gave her daughter most of her food, so she became malnourished and ill. Since she was no longer useful for forced labor, the Nazis sent her to the gas chambers.
  • Jacqueline was Sent to a Children's barracks for Experimentation

    After her mother died, Jacqueline was sent to a special children's barracks. The conditions were more hospitable than the rest of the camp because the Nazis needed the children for later medical experimentation. They received decent food, the barracks were heated, and the German staffs entertained them with games and songs.
  • Tuberculosis Cultures were Being Injected Into the Children

    Dr. Kurt Heissmeyer transferred the children to the Neuengamme concentration camp in the fall of 1944. He then inejected the with Tuberculosis cultures. The children became very sick.
  • Operation on the Effects of Tuberculosis Began

    Heissmeyer decided to operate on the children to see the effects of Tuberculosis on their glands. Whether or not Jacqueline was operated on remains a mystery.
  • Jaqueline's Short Life Came to an End

    As the British Allied Foreces got closer to the camp, camp administrators deported the children to a school in Hamburg. However, they weren't finished with them yet. There they injected Jacqueline along with other children with morphine until they slipped into comas, and hanged them one by one.
