    Japanese Feudalism (Samurai)

    Samurai was the pre industrial japanese word pertaining to military nobility. Samurais followed a code of laws called the Bushido code.
  • Tokugawa Shogunate

    Established a regime in Japan. It was then passed on to the descentents of the Tokugawas.
  • Commodore Matthew Perry

    Commander of the US Navy. Opened Japan to the West in theTreaty of Kanagawa.
  • Meiji Restoration

    The chain of events that restored the imperial rule to Japan.
  • Japanese Territorial Expansion

    Japan expanded territory from 1875 to 1930.
  • Great Depression

    Japan began to become a world power after World War I. It took over the market, escpecially since Britain slumped in the '20s
  • Hiroshima

    Hiroshima was bombed to end WWI. Nagasaki was bombed as well.
  • Post War Reforms

    The Allied Powers, Britain and US, occupied Japan until 1952 to keep the nation down.
  • Economic Miracle

    The period of economic growth in Japan after the world war.
  • Tsunami (2011)

    Known as the Tohoku Earthquake. It shifted the island of Honshu 8 ft. tilted the earth's axis between 10 and 25 cm. It was a 9 on the richter scale.
