Three seperate voyages by the English were attempted to settle on the coast of Virginia (now North Carolina). John White leaves the Roanoke Colony to travel to England for supplies. When he returned, no one was found.
Expedition sponsored by the Virginia Company of London
104 colonists arrive at a site on the James River. The groups mission was to make a profit from the resources found at this site. They named the settlement King James 1
