Yamamoto planned his attack on Pearl Harbor while the U.S. was distracted with fighting Germany. Yamamoto sunk four battleships and damaged four others. 2,403 Americans died. Battle of Midway
Admiral Yamamoto strikes in hopes to destroy U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and copy the success of the Pearl Harbor attack. The attempt backfired with the attack being to complex and the U.S. defense being to good for the Japanese troops. 2500 of the Japanese died and 292 aircrafts were taken down.
