In Victoria, 1873, another attempt of smelting iron and steel was made with the formation of Victoria Iron Compay- to soon become Lal Lal Iron Mining Co. Ltd in 1874.

Small Blast Furnace developed

Lal Lal Iron Mining Co. Ltd built a small blast furnace in 1875 and was operated into the 1880's but was not an economic project. A satisfactory production was only acheived five years after development

Closing of First Smelting Plant in Australia

The first attempt of iron and steel establishment was shut down after the uneconomical smelting plant which was closed down in 1877.
